Dreamtime Journeys Dreamtime Journeys is a five day experience that takes in the very best indigenous experiences that North Queensland has to offer.
Guests meet and interact with six different tribal groups that have history going back 40,000 years.
The first day of the tour sees guests exploring Townsville, visiting many Aboriginal sites including the Townsville Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Centre.
Day two sees guests exploring the Paluma Ranges with an Aboriginal guide before staying the night at the very comfortable Hidden Valley Cabins. The resort is famous for being the first resort in Australia to run entirely on solar power. It’s also recognized as the best spot in the country for spotting the elusive platypus.
On day three guests visit the stunning Wallaman Falls, the highest sheer drop waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere. There they learn from an Aboriginal guide about the waterfall’s cultural significance.
Guests also visit Mungalla Station. It’s a working cattle property run by the Nywaigi people. Mungalla offers employment opportunities to local indigenous people and also tours to visitors.
On day four guests explore Cardwell and Hinchinbrook Island and stay the night at the Echo Adventure and Cultural Camp. It has comfy accommodation and plenty of indigenous and nature activities. One of the more popular activities is a hike to Echo Creek Falls along an ancient aboriginal walking trail.
Day five sees guests return to Townsville or Cairns. The tour costs $3,800 per person.
